Checking radon readings while away from home

Compare View Plus Wi-Fi with Home 2 plus a hub, and check power, network requirements and reading freshness.

Want to check your radon readings while you’re away? Choose a setup that uploads measurements through the property’s internet connection. You can then open the uploaded record from another location.

Find the connected setup for your home

Arrangement Path to off-site access Extra requirement
View Plus alone Monitor → home Wi-Fi → Airthings cloud → app/dashboard Supported Wi-Fi and internet connection
Home 2 with dedicated Hub Monitor → SmartLink → Ethernet Hub → router/internet → Airthings cloud Compatible Hub, plug-in power and Ethernet connection
Home 2 with View Plus as hub Monitor → SmartLink → View Plus → home Wi-Fi → Airthings cloud View Plus must have USB power and Wi-Fi

The current Home 2 connection instructions explicitly support a dedicated Hub or plugged-in View monitor. The Ethernet Hub manual documents the wired network connection. Follow the current Home 2 instructions for linking that model rather than older Wave-specific setup examples in the Hub manual.

Check the network and power arrangement

View Plus supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi; its starter guide excludes 5 GHz networks and captive portals. Check this before choosing a monitor for a property with a managed or guest network.

View Plus can use batteries for its own measurements, but its View-series manual says hub functionality stops on battery-only power. That distinction matters if it is carrying Home 2 readings as well. The same manual says View's Bluetooth is for setup and configuration, not local retrieval of measurement data.

For a US setup, confirm the appropriate regional settings and compatibility before linking SmartLink devices. The Hub manual specifies different North American and European radio bands. Confirm the hub link after pairing.

If you prefer to check history nearby

Ecosense's RD200 FAQ describes local Bluetooth access and says RadonEye has no cloud or server service. Choose it for nearby history checks. For off-site readings, compare the Airthings arrangements above.

Check when your readings last updated

An old uploaded value may remain visible when a connection is interrupted. After setup, leave Bluetooth range, use your phone’s mobile connection and confirm that new readings continue to reach the account. Record the latest update time and verify the connection again after placing the monitor in its intended room.

When updates stop, check monitor power, hub power where applicable, the local radio link and the property's internet connection. View's manual also warns that its e-paper display can retain an image after complete power loss. Check the latest measurement timestamp as well as the display.

Check update freshness after an outage. Reading averages and upload intervals determine how quickly changes appear.

If you already have a compatible hub, Home 2 may add a measurement location with less additional hardware. Without one, compare the full arrangement with View Plus and decide whether its extra sensors justify the purchase.
