Offline radon monitoring: display and history

Choose a screen-first radon workflow. Compare local displays, app tasks and ways to save your readings before moving a monitor.

You can read radon averages without connecting a monitor to home Wi-Fi. The more useful buying question is whether you also want to avoid a smartphone, an account and an online history service. Those choices lead to different shortlists.

Choose how you’ll read and save measurements

An optional app can still be required for a particular task. Check which controls you will use.

Find the controls you’ll use

Device What local use provides Where the app matters
Original Corentium Home One-day, seven-day and long-term averages; physical reset and measurement-day control Physical controls on model 223
Corentium Home 2 Radon averages for 24 hours, seven days, 30 days and a cumulative or one-year period; temperature and humidity Historical graphs, synchronization and online exports
RadonEye RD200 Plug-in monitor with an OLED radon display Downloading its stored record and resetting data

The original manual and Home 2 offline comparison support the Airthings rows. Check the averaging label as well as the number: a recent average and a longer measurement average answer different questions.

The RD200 FAQ describes additional OLED averages but also says reset requires the app through its software controls. Its display and export details depend on the unit's firmware and phone compatibility. Include the reset task when choosing a fully screen-based workflow.

Save the record before changing anything

The original Corentium manual warns that resetting or changing batteries deletes its stored data. Home 2 has a similar offline limitation: a new measurement or battery removal makes previous data inaccessible. Save displayed averages or synchronize the data before a reset.

For connected Home 2 use, fully synchronizing before starting another measurement preserves uploaded history. Its manual also provides hardware instructions for starting a new measurement without the app. Decide which route you want before moving the device.

A practical manual record

Create a paper or spreadsheet record with:

  1. Model, serial number, room and measurement start date/time.
  2. Each reading's observation date/time, units and exact averaging label.
  3. Displayed measurement duration where available, plus interruptions or battery changes.
  4. The final values before resetting, with a clearly separate record for the next location.

Follow the device's reset instructions for a new location. Keep separate dated records for each room.

For a screen-first workflow, compare the original and Home 2. For occasional phone access without a cloud service, explore RD200’s app tasks. If your requirement is checking from another property, use the remote-access comparison.
